rather than setting up a multisig, would it be good to split my seed words into two remote locations? or is this idea flawed in some way?
The purpose of each is different, making a multi-signature wallet has the aim of securing every transaction that occurs, so confirmation from other wallets is required. While the seed acts as password or key to your wallet, meaning it is the security for the wallet itself. If you want to do both, then why choose one over the other, use both methods to ensure complete security.
