Hi WOers.
Just got a new Android phone, and thinking of installing a wallet app for petty cash. I've never done anything with Lightning, but would like to get into it, so I'm looking for a non-custodial Android app than can do both on-chain and LN transactions.
My priorities are as follows:
Stability
Security
Open-source (if possible)
Appearance/UI <-- this is important, my OCD won't allow a crappy UI.
Having used Proton's email services, I'm eyeing their Proton Wallet app, but I don't think it can do LN. I've heard of Wallet of Satoshi, Muun, Blue, based on posts here in WO.
Which one would you recommend? I don't mind a one-off payment if it's a good app.
Thanks.
I don't really know about Android even though I can look at various wallet types and see if Android is supported.
At the same time, I still am not sure how important (or worth the troubles) to try to find an app that does non-custodial on chain and lightning wallets within the same app.. and of course, any app that is supporting multiple wallet types with then have different wallets within the App to cover the different kinds of supported wallets. Phoenix should be on your list, and surely, you can look at various kinds of software wallets and their various features at:

When you say "Blue," you are referring to BlueWallet? As many of us likely realize BlueWallet had historically had both an onchain wallet and a lightning network wallet, and so there had frequently been disputes regarding the extent to which BlueWallet's lightning wallet was custodial, which maybe such dispute was resolved a few years ago when BlueWallet stopped offering their version of lightning wallet in terms of their running a lighting node, so now the only way that you can use BlueWallet lightning is to have your own lightning node (or the lighting node of a friend, since the wallet is not referring anyone to alternative lightning network nodes or services in order to use their lighting wallet unless you have a specific way of hooking it up yourself with your own lighting network node or your own private connection to such).
Couldn't hurt. It should not hurt.. but who knows? There can be finickiness with any of these Bitcoin price-related matters, many times without our having confidence to know what affects what.
The proudhon song (bitcoin is a bubble) is a classic too.
