OP since Theymos has approved some merit applications, I hope we will not see many merit threads anymore after sometime
I am not talking about merit sources; I am talking about general users. They don't seem very interested in spending their merits. So it's become quite tough to earn merits for new users. I am thinking of something and recently shared Vod's thread. I am trying to think how to inspire merits senders to spend their merits.
Maybe bringing in the first suggested merit decay will be a nice idea. Let's say, for instance, if a member receives merit and tries to stack their Smerit for X period of time, it will decay in their profile if it's not spent. Maybe it will push and motivate members to be spending their Smerit regularly.
Sounds like a good idea, however some people will still hoard their smerits and allow it decay rather than spending them. I wonder why some users will say that they haven't met a quality post to merit, does it mean that everyone in the forum are making generic posts?
I think i have seen a legendary member in the past who didn't spend any of their smerits even when he receives merits from others and I began to wonder if such user doesn't know they can send merit to others or he is just being selfish and doesn't want people to grow through his help.
