ahh, so i just created a passphrase wallet. does this mean - i can destroy/lose my hardware usb device, buy a new one, then re-create my wallet with my seed words. But then, i also equally need my passphrase to access the btc? if this is the case i like it, i can store my seed words and my passphrase at separate locations

The question is why do you even want to destroy your hardware wallet, having the back up of your wallet phrases doesn’t mean that you should destroy the hardware wallet it self. But yes the both passphrase and seed phrase are needed to restore your wallet on any wallet devices that supports such phrase format. But be careful and do not restore your wallet on an hot wallet because that will make the seed phrase and passphrase go online and there is a potential risk to that, so while restoring your wallet make sure it is on a cold wallet
