While growing up, it is common to see young men going to learn technical or vocational skills in Nigeria. They will become apprentices in mechanical, electrical, carpentry,  plumbing, vulcanizing, and other skills. If you go to this workshop, you will see many youths there learning skills.

These days, the number of young people who are learning this handwork has reduced drastically. These workshops These days are somehow empty and you will see mostly men in their forties and fifties.

I was discussing with a mechanic today and he told me that the youths are now focused on online jobs. He said many of the apprentices who came to learn skills dropped out. He claimed that most of them are impatient and want quick money.

He claimed that these youths are now focused on G and Naija bet. I don't know how true his reasons are. How you reason am?

He is saying the truth because even where I live, workshops are now complaining of their apprentice not serious with their works and always in search of updates to make them quick money. This is not even about online jobs they can venture into and earn money even while still going to have this vocational skills in the workshop. They just want to be told of some certain kind of leaks, to make them make quick money before it becomes outdated. This has been what has been happening recently around.

I am not against apprentice getting acquainted to online jobs to help them better, but in search of leaks or porous sites to quickly get money from before they become casted is what they want. If they are no more receiving those benefits after enjoying the offers initially, they now begin to think of other illegal means to make money through stealing, scamming, pretense and other illegal activities.

Having online jobs to commend your physical job is not bad but it is the way they’re so desperate to have one when no room for it is already available that is scaring and how they don’t even want to wait for the legit ones to come through patiently learning the process that is also alarming.
