Even though Tottenham Hotspur are known for sacking their coaches who take them to a final or win a trophy for them, I think Ange Postecoglou's case is totally different. Tottenham Hotspur finished in 17th position in the Premier League table, and Levy is afraid that Ange Postecoglou will likely not perform better or help Tottenham Hotspur compete in the Premier League next season. So, for Levy to avoid any poor performance from Tottenham Hotspur next season, he decides to relieve Ange Postecoglou of his duties at Tottenham Hotspur so that he can get another coach who can help Tottenham Hotspur compete in the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.
Tottenham Hotspur finished 8th in 2022/23 and 5th in 2023/24 premier league season. While in last EPL season Tottenham Hotspur was just lucky enough to avoid the relegation zone. Any club will think of making changes in the squad if team ranking has gone down to that extent. Under Ange Postecoglou coaching the Tottenham Hotspur won the Europa League Final in May 2025 but poor performance in EPL might be the main reason why he is not retained as coach by the club management.
I think this is normal because the Premier League is more important for them. If they are in the relegation zone next year in the Premier League, it will be a big problem for them. The Europa League is an important trophy and also gave them a ticket to the Champions League next year, but of course for the management, the ranking they are in this year in the league was more than enough for the manager to be dismissed from the team, in my opinion.
