From what can be seen, 8 members have confirmed that they have become MS, and there are another 14 people on the public list who have applied, including myself. I haven't received any message yet, nor do I see anything changed on the sMerits page.
I am not sure but as far as I noticed, almost every member announced as new merit source were highlighting a local board so theymos might added sources for local boards only and soon he might be adding for the global boards where things about bitcoin discussed if not this will lead to further decline in the activity on the places where the forum is supposed to concentrate. 
And another guess, some of the existing active merit sources got more allocation now because it looks so many of them were removed but not that much drop in the total sMerit generation.
