In my opinion, Ronaldo is being hypocritical, since in 2013 he received the Golden Ball and did not win the Champions League, since Bayern won this tournament that year. And if he really believes that a player who has not won the Champions League does not have the right to receive the Golden Ball, then he should return the Golden Ball, which he received in 2013.
Ronaldo may be saying this after discovering that Champions League competition is difficult maybe that's the angle he is seeing thiings now as he is no longer in the league that plays the champions League, also he can not return what he won many years ago not even when the players that should be given the award if we are following what Ronaldo said is no longer in Bayern Munich. The Golden ball should be given to the player that won many major trophies like the league title, the champions League and any other major trophy but the player should have shown individual performance like good goal record for the season and a total all round good performance that could be how best to determine the qualified player to win the award.
