When you talk about freedom while holding a gun, it's not freedom.

First of all, the title of your topic does not seem to have anything to do with your claim, because gun ownership and decentralization has little things to do with one another. Leaving that aside, though.

You will find people on the internet, specially from the conservative branch of the political spectrum in the United States which believe that wielding guns is not only a signal of personal freedom, but actually a God given right for the people of the United States to counter the power of the state in case the latter becomes authoritarian and tries to strip away the right of the people.
If those in power have guns and you don't have then, then it is easier for them to abuse and keep you oppressed, on the other hand, if you also have guns, the state is reluctant of becoming fully authoritarian and go against their own citizens.
