This is exactly what the thread was missing, some words of wisdom combined with some straight-talking that does not care about what others might think. Not that long ago one account in particular that should never have been considered for merit source became merit source. Though slightly off-topic, I think the problem you posted about branches out further (and theymos should never have allowed it to happen).
There's no fucking way anybody (especially anyone who's a merit source) should have helped that shitposter to rank up. Just taking a look at the first page of his post history tells me all I need to know about why he's here and how much effort he'll probably always put into his posts--zero.
Whether he sucked off all those members who gave him merits or got the help from the ranking up thread, what you showed is not normal. Yes, I've seen it before, particularly with people who've got either alt accounts or have their whole families enrolled in sig campaigns with merits to spare, but it's not the norm.

From what i noticed, on the 7th of june the account was close to ranking up to Hero from senior member and the account also applied for help in the ranking up thread, which have been on for long helping those who are 25 merits away from they next ranks and from my expirencce, that thread contributed to the tons of merits perfectbaby received to rank up to Hero member.

This may be normal, but I don't think he got so many merits on worthy posts.
