All the old users here have similar experiences. Your friend was lucky to have found the Bitcoin he forgot in an old wallet, despite the small amount. However, there are others who had larger amounts and were unlucky enough to keep them for all these years.
Personally I had mining rigs and sold my daily earnings for $150 per Bitcoin. One of my addresses had a record of 3 Bitcoins, and other addresses had records for transactions of slightly smaller amounts. When I look at them, I feel a little remorseful that I didn't invest even a small percentage of those Bitcoins. At the same time, I'm relieved that all the Bitcoins were spent personally, not invested in shitcoins, nor stolen from me through stupid errors.
