Manchester City are currently trying to improve on some of the poor form of last season so they will definitely be making some purchases in order to find suitable options for Pep's schemes next season.
They have lost some of their mainstay players, and especially with last season's slump, this is a very valuable lesson for Pep to be able to improve Man City's performance.

But now, the transfer has been ended for the first period. Some transfer have been done, let's see what's deal later for the next period.

Is this transfer period divided in two phases, one takes place before the CWC is played and once that tournament has ended, the transfer window opens up again? If that is how it works this year, I think the CWC is probably the best place for some great players from other areas to show their talent. They usually don't get the chance to play against these European top teams and are dependent on getting scouted. That usually works quite well as they all have extensie scouting, but a tournament like this gives them the 1vs1 chance to show it directly in the games.

Manchester City has a lot of work to do and I think Pep Guardiola is serious about it. He loves building legacies and the last thing on earth he wants is to leave a Manchester City behind that nobody wants to have to deal with nor remember at all. One of his last moves will now be to set them up for success again and that also means bringing in new players that are not going to retire in like two years. They need young players who are the greatest in their positions or abou to become the greatest. Guardiola can be a great player developer too.

This season could be his last I think. He has said it often times that he won't stay for much longer and yet he did, but this time he said it more often that slowly but surely the time has come for him.
