I agree that there was one moment when I thought there is no possible way for them to win the CL and in the past PSG wasn't able to get their game finally going and beat the big teams. This time they saved themselves into the playoffs for the knockout rounds and from there on, PSG quickly became one of the favorites.
However, I was still expecting that they will fall back into their old shape and the same problems are going to reoccur . But not this time and this is why I think Enrique and PSG fit together very well. They seem to respect him and he is able to keep them own to earth even when they lead their domestic league by 20 points.
For long time their biggest problem in Champions League was their mindset. They mostly fall under pressure when playing against strong teams with many talented attackers. You and many others expected them to fail again. But they actually played much better in knockout games. They also stay focused even when they were far ahead in their home league. This really shows how their team has changed. It is clear Enrique has given them new level of control and toughness that they needed.
One of the biggest reasons that made PSG stand out in the Champions League was because they knew that they had already given a big point distance in their local league, so it would be hard for any team to meet up with them even if they lost a game. Moreover, they were the only best team in the local league, so it was so easy for them to have enough time and focus in the Champions League, and they ended up winning the trophy they had been wanting to win since they founded the club.
I have believed in them since the semifinals that they will definitely be the team that will win the Champions League trophy, but I was never expecting to see a clean sheet. That was unexpected to me that day, but it was very amazing and joyful. I hope they keep the same energy next season.
