Did your friend write the seed phrase on a notepad or notebook? If yes, he should use the same email that he used to sign up, to login to the app from another phone. He will be able to see every information he stored on the affected phone.
If he took a screenshot of the seed phrase, and also have automatic backup enabled. He should use same email to login to Google drive from another phone to get the screenshot.
If he didn't do anything of these, he should consult a data recovery expert and it's going cost some money.
