Greetings everyone.
Something has been bothering me sometimes now which I have made consultation but could not get convinceable response.
So the things is How does the merit sources pick posts for merits? Do they have bots that specifically identifies those posts like filtering a thread to find worth quality post to merit? Or just hovering around threads in their specified board they are in charge off and then merits randomly according to their own decisions?
I am curious because I see posts that is more qualified for merits but ignored while lower quality posts at being merited or could it also mean there is favouritism in there?

I believe that there is subjectivity there, definitely. That is, each merit source evaluates the "value" of a post based on its own subjective assessment. The post that "deserves" from your point of view may not deserve it from the point of view of the merit source.

But favoritism may also very well take place in the case where the user's point of view coincides with the opinion of the merit source. The merit source will more likely give credit to this user than to someone who expresses the opposite opinion (or one that the merit source doesn't share). In other words, favoritism by "unanimity".

After reading the comments in this topic, I saw the assumption that merit sources simply physically can't have time to read all the posts and therefore, posts deserving of merit can wait for "better times". Why not? Tons of posts appear on the forum every day and your "most wonderful" post will simply get lost in the flow of user communication. But it's not that bad, because after a while, this post can be seen. Not necessarily by merit sources, but by ordinary users who will "mark" you with merit.

There are so many discussions about merits, merit sources and the fairness of meriting, most often created by users "in dire need of merits". Do you consider yourself unfairly deprived?
