Football had not been fair to midfielders, defenders and goalkeepers. Nuno Mendes, Achraf Hakimi and Gianluigi Donnarumma all deserve to be in the top ten. But because of the position they play, they might not get high votes. Many people think that football is all about scoring goals, so strikers get the biggest support.
I think midfielders still gets spotlight, it;s both defenders and goalkeepers are really low.
They have to play very very outstanding, to outperform midfielders and strikers, then they can get Ballon d'Or, it's like two or three times difficult. As time goes, I don't see new generations are raised to play as a defender or goalkeeper, they are mostly gets motivation to become striker.
This reduce the chance for defender and goalkeeper to win Ballon d'Or.
