It is not always about going to top, it is about growing and doing better. For example, Erik Ten Hag has a 3rd place under his wing, and even EFL and FA cup too. He still got fired, didn't he? Because that third place, didn't turn into a second place, nor a 4th place, it turned to 9th place or worse this season when he left. Amorim doesn't need to be 3rd place next summer, he has to be 9th, that would mean improvement.
Just so you know. It was after the 2-1 defeat to West Ham that ETH was axed and United was at 14th place on the table. If Manchester United didn't sack him, they'd be playing in the championship next season. They were going down as if they wanted to discover oil. I know they also struggled when Amorim took over but if he can get at least a Europe league ticket next season, I think he'll still have his job.
Victor Osimhen or Gyökeres, who do you think will best suit Manchester United?
I think it's Gyokeres because of the 3-4-3 formation Amorim prefers. It's a system he strives very well while in Sporting. I'm not saying Osimhen will not do well. What I'm saying is that he might have some difficulty adjusting, especially if he hasn't played in that formation before.
