Yeah it would seem more like gambling if one goes beyond discretionary income but some times I do have this feeling if we are only buying bitcoin with an amount can afford to loss them doesn't that make it a gambling because we are afraid we might losses them? lossing can be in many ways but the most fear in this instance is the fear of lossing it to crash or hacks/attacks. I prefer to invest into bitcoin with an amount that I can afford but not the chunks from my discretionary income, if we keep it being only a little of what we can afford to loss to me it's now a gamble which bitcoin is not.
Let's be clear, investing in Bitcoin isn't the same as gambling and definitely not as you have explained. Sure, there's risk involved just as in gambling but if you're in it for the long term, Bitcoin can be much safer.
You are right Nheer but your emphasis on the risk of bitcoin in a thread where we are discussing long term hold makes it appear like you are addressing trading. I'm not saying that bitcoin have no risk but equating it to gambling makes it a little out of place. I don't know the time that investing in bitcoin will bear similar risk as gambling which is any mistake, all is gone. When you buy bitcoin with your discretionary income and hold for a long term, you have eliminated the majority of the known risk that comes with bitcoin. The bulk of your job will be reduced to storing them safely in a wallet that you control the private keys that should be saved offline or in hardware wallets.

That being said, it is important to invest money you can afford to lose like discretionary income or funds you don't need for anything else.
This is another wrong phrase for bitcoin long term investment. It belong to gambling because in bitcoin long term investment, we are not investing to lose money even though we are putting in part of our discretionary income. I will not diligently put at least 20% of my income into bitcoin and kept for my retirement and partly to hand over to my heirs only to lose them. Bitcoin is not disappearing anytime soon or turning into zero so the chances of this me losing my money is very slim or non existent.
