I really don't think so, it wasn't even just this season that ended that Real Madrid started having serious defensive injuries it was the other one. It wasn't Ancelotti's fault that the team was reinforced but the fault of Perez. The coach had requested for the players he needed but the management did otherwise. The coach has no other choice than to manage the players that he already has.
Previously, Ancelotti had submitted an offer to the management to bring in new players after several key players in the defensive area suffered serious injuries, but the management ignored the request so that Ancelotti had no other choice but to utilize the players available in his squad. The selfishness of the management including Perez made Ancelotti the scapegoat for Real Madrid's failure to win trophies, but as has happened before, the coach is always the victim.
Alonso also has no guarantee that he can handle Real Madrid for a long time, if he fails to fulfill Perez's desires, perhaps he will suffer the same fate as Ancelotti, previously Zidane also had to leave the Madrid coaching chair because what the club president wanted was not achieved.
Exactly, I could remember reading such a news 2 years ago when this injury started on the defensive players and nothing was done about it. That was when Ancelotti started using the available as the desirable. Midfielder were turned into defenders thereby giving them new roles which they weren't used to. Camavinga was deployed to the LB wing, Tchouaméni was paired with Rudiger at CB and Valverde played most part of his game at the RB wing. The team was successful that year and the management didn't see the need to reinforce the squad for the manager at that time.
