Haven't you Heard about the news of how criminals now target bitcoin influencer physically imposing threats to them and their loved ones? Yes there's a need to spread the word about bitcoin, but in a country where the rate of insecurity is very high, I don't think I would advice any to put himself in such shoe.. even in the developed countries, criminals still are able to pull off such acts, what more in a county like Nigeria where we barley have a good emergency service?
Fact here is that bitcoin has long past the stage where it needs anyone to promote it as a future technology. It now speaks for its self and at that, anyone who probably haven't heard about bitcoin just might not be interested. And trying to, like you said;
evangelize
, they would probably call you a scammer trying to sell them something that doesn't exist..
If you come across someone that needs help, then you might try to assist them. But don't go about trying to spread a word of bitcoin to unknown individuals. It makes you a target because the public has this mindset of anyone who understands how BTC works literally must own. And truly most knowledgeable individuals or bitcoin literates owns a considerable amount of bitcoin.. so it's a no for me.. stay safe.
Off course there are risks and am fully aware of such but the point that I was trying to make is that Bitcoin will not get to the point that we expect it to be in the future if proper information about Bitcoin is not shared with people around you especially in correcting the negative knowledge or information that people have about Bitcoin
