To me I don't think that is his problems maybe you aren't dancing according to his tune therefore he get weird to write such to you.
Man, from my best knowledge so far in this forum merits is not a thing to hoard for so long and as much as you are appointed as merits source it's best you dispatch it to those who are lacking for merits. Ranking up is separate issues and I have seen in our community where local merits source created a thread to help those who lacking few merits to rank up to their next rank, he has been doing it till date and there is no big deal over there.

One thing you must know is that not everyone who will like you for every single thing you do, especially when you are being recognized by the forum or being appointed for a specific thing in the forum, some of them may get angry and pretended to be happy with you while they are not, and the same people are the people who will be looking for fault where you are and, you must "learned to grow thick skin" when such criticism is coming.

Hey man I will tell you for free, do your thing and do not let anyone pressure for any reason.. If they are angry of your source they should go apply as the forum is open for everyone who feels they are qualify to be source to apply, maybe when they are approved as one they will sit and started drawing map on how they should also spend their merits.
