I don't think it is right to say that they have no future. They are still around, have tremendous resources I guess and they have a big name in the football world.

All of this is worth nothing if they don't make use of that potential, but if they can find someone who is able to consistently improve the team over the years, Manchester United could still be one of the strongest competitors in the EPL.

The status quo is indeed not very good. The Europa League final was more of a coincidence and now they have to start all over. They won't play in the CL, ruined their reputation last season and finding great players who are willing to be transferred to them is hard because the players that Manchester United needs and wants, they usually want to play in the CL.

Next season will be crucial for them because they need to qualify for the CL again.
The biggest achievement of Manchester United last season was avoiding relegation. Since they are still in the Premiership they still have the opportunity of coming back stronger next season. The club had the necessary resources to get the best players in the world. But the task before Ruben Amorim is how to assemble the best players and prepare them for next season.

Amorim disappointed United's fans last season because they believed he would change the club's fortune after sacking Erik ten Hag. But the excuse was that he came when the club was already in bad shape and the players were not his choice. There will be no excuse next season because he will be given all the support he needs. Qualifying for the Champions League would be his benchmark.

To be precise, it wasn't really ever an issue that they could be fighting relegation. The standings suggest otherwise because of the final rank in the table, but to their advantage the gap was big enough and the 3 weakest teams were not strong enough to soak Manchester United right into the relegation zone trouble. I wonder how this could have ended in a season when 20th, 19th and 18th had been much stronger and had more points to their account by the around match day 32. This way Manchester United could be certain they wouldn't get into that sort of trouble.

At the end of the day this result was not was anyone was hoping for after sacking their coach and paying millions to get Amorim. He couldn't change anything and the success in the Europa League, reaching the final, doesn't change anything about it. The season was a failure.
