In watching sports, it is very common for fans to have recency bias especially if fans are new. They might not have watched certain important events so they end up only believing what they have witnessed from recently. If a team wins the latest match, fans might think they are already at the best form of their careers.
In sports betting, this can hinder you from making rational decisions. Sometimes, people fall for short clips cut specifically to make an athlete look good or cool. This is very common on reels or tiktok. How would you combat recency bias? Or do you even believe that recency bias is a thing? or do you believe a team or athlete is only as good as their latest match?
I think this has to do with rational behavior of fans, it's a normal thing for them to behave like that, like people don't care to look at the bad aspect of their favorite team for that particular time until after their team start losing before they realize and some don't realized, they just follow their club blindly even if they are doing bad, there is always positive side they do see in their club but when it comes to gambling, they don't gamble with their emotions.
I think serious gamblers don't include their club in their games, when they want to try it, they do it with single game but personally, I don't judge my team even if they are capable, I go for something that is possible with the two teams combination. Like look into the way the both teams has been playing in their recent games and then select an option where the two teams will do together or one team can take everything, over 2.5 goals is a simple way to get the job done.
