Each merit source has its own way of spending its sMerit balance each month. The total merit generation per month won't be very large when you divide it evenly across 88 merit sources - that's about 355 sMerit if divided evenly, but each merit source will get a different share.

The main focus is of course on quality posts based on each merit source - but sometimes you can also find some merit sources that merited others who make for a particular job. If you want to earn merit - then don't focus on the merit, but focus on yourself so that you can post something useful. The quality of the post is very subjective for each merit source or each user - some consider it good, but some consider it a common post.
