Don't waste your time on these fads. It was a money making machine in the early days, when it was a novel concept with high APR and high user demand. Masternodes are not much different than validators in POS networks, just different wording. Now there are so many projects with this concept that they are not so interesting. The only way to make real money is if by chance you end up selecting a winning project in its early days.
Yes, the masternode trend is now over --- now many people are more into validators, maybe it's not much different from that and I don't think it will be profitable anymore, but it's up to the OP how confident he is in the future to $1000.
For early profits, you have to find a good project, because now after the listing the price has plummeted because the dominance of altcoins is less even though the project is working hard in its development.
