After all these "stories with Ledger with an unpleasant smell" using their HW as the main storage of crypto looks risky, but this doesn't mean that Ledger should not be used at all. Why not, as a secondary device for small amounts. If you already have ledger's wallet, then why you throw it away, right.
I still use my Nano S that I bought many years ago. Allegedly, it can't contain the Ledger Recover code as its memory isn't big enough. We will never know for sure if that is true or not. I use the Nano S for some altcoins that I have and when I need a way to store stablecoins. I trust the Ledger enough for those purposes. But my bitcoin isn't there. And if tomorrow I needed a place to send a significant sum of BTC, Ledger would be way down on my list.
