Risk is an important part of a gambler's job and we can write about it endlessly. But here's a topic for discussion that I would like to raise: the other side of risk. What do I mean? I mean the reward for which we take risks. The funny thing is that many gamblers do not explore this issue at all. And it often happens that there is no reward on the other side of risk. The question arises: for what does a person take risks? It turns out that for nothing, it is just a risk for the sake of risk. It also turns out that this person will lose in any case. In the world of gambling, this happens when a person bets on a favorite with extremely low odds. At the same time, there is still a possibility of losing. If your winnings are so low, then we can say that you do not win even in the case of a formal win. It is funny that betting on black on roulette is much more profitable in some sense. Yes, the chances of winning are much lower, but in any case they are only slightly below 50%. But at the same time, your winnings will bring you significant money.

I believe that many gamblers take risks for the sake of risk itself. The very concept of risk often comes wrapped in two narratives: either it's seen as something bold and admirable — a necessary step if you want radical change — or it’s condemned as a reckless move that only makes things worse. I think most gamblers perceive risk in the first way. It boosts their self-esteem and enhances their self-image. They justify their actions by believing that without risk, they will never get the reward they truly want.
