I didn't like PSG at all. They couldn't find a clear position compared to previous matches. Botafogo goalkeeper made a couple of saves but there were no positions that would challenge him.
Botafogo came once and luck was on their side in that position. When Jesus' shot hit the defense, Donnarumma was left behind and just watched the ball. Botafogo took the lead with this goal. I thought PSG would win the match anyway and this goal would be just a lucky goal but it wasn't like that. PSG couldn't score. Botafogo practically built a wall in front of their goal in the following minutes and didn't give PSG a chance to score.
The match ended 1-0 but I was disappointed by PSG.
PSG is my championship candidate for this tournament.
I think these two teams will probably face each other again until the final or in the final. PSG is still my clear favorite to win the championship.
Totally get your point — PSG looked surprisingly flat. They lacked creativity and couldn’t break down Botafogo’s deep block. For a team with their talent, you'd expect more urgency and sharper ideas in the final third. That said, I agree — one off day doesn’t change their potential. If they regroup and fix their attacking transitions, I still see them as strong contenders for the title. A rematch with Botafogo later in the tournament could be very different.
You are actually right when you said that an off day doesn't change anything about psg, they are still as leather in attack as they are used to be, just that it was a bad day in the office, though when watching the game, I felt like fatigue have set's into that team, their urgency level and desire is very low comparing to how they were in the uefa champions league, but this are still early days, they should not be looked down on in anyway because they are one of the favourite to win this one considering their form in the immediate past season.
Finally, I will not look into the performance of most top side that much until they have gotten into the knockout stage, that's when men have been separated from The boys, so this then, I wouldn't look into the performance of everything that much.
