It's good to see some of these surprises play out in this tournament because some of these European clubs are assuming that they are superior to the clubs from other regions but the South American teams seem to be playing some great football with great and unusual tactics which puts them ahead of all the teams in the competition so far.
I also did not expect Botafogo to beat PSG, the victory was beyond many people predictions. Sure enough, it seems that many bettors suffered losses in the match. I think the victory is considered a big surprise so far, and a reminder to all of us that the Club World Cup is also not easy to predict. PSG, who are European champions, were overwhelmed in breaking down Botafogo defense, until the front line of Luis Enrique squad looked very frustrated. However, I don't think PSG defeat was because they were not serious in the Club World Cup, but they seemed to underestimate Botafogo.
Haven beaten Athletico Madrid, PSG became high minded to the extent that they forgot that their next opponent is a Brazilian team and they really had to play cautiously due to the complex nature of the clubs from Brazil, the same thing happened to Barcelona several years ago when they faced Inter Milan, another Brazilian side in the finals of the club world cup during Frank Rijkaard era at Barcelona.
