It's a simple game, I don't see how it could keep someone playing for a long time. By you? Since you said you're a technology lover, you could create an integration for the player to connect their own wallet and maybe even charge a small fee to keep the project active. I don't see any problem in wanting to profit from something that took time, knowledge, and money to maintain (hosting, domain, etc.).
