You cannot not feel sorry for Atletico. They did what they could and defeated Botafogo 1-0 today, but it wasn't enough and they will be dropping out because of the goal difference. It's a shame, but that's just the way it is.
After unexpectedly losing to Botafogo in the second match, PSG's today's performance was a bit of a question mark, but they didn't have any problems winning against Seattle (2-0) and controlled the game throughout.
Atletico is the first club from Europe that did not qualify for the group stage and of course this is a little unexpected because in the end we sometimes look too high on Europe especially for Atletico who we know are one of the giants in La Liga.
They fought hard to get the win but in the end 1 goal was not enough to make them qualify because at least 3 wins must be above to be able to turn their condition around and Atletico was unable to realize that.
They dominated from the start but because of poor finishing and with Botafogo's fairly good defense where they did not lose concentration even though in the final minutes there were a few obstacles but they were able to withstand it which made Atletico seem frustrated with the results obtained because the development of their performance and dominance seemed useless.
With this result PSG and Botafogo are the first 2 clubs to qualify now where PSG is at the top and Botafogo is in runner up.
