People always talk about how not going to the university does not necessarily mean that things are over. But going to school or university still has some benefits. But what college programs end up becoming most profitable these days? Some may say medicine. I do not think so. It is expensive to become a doctor and you might just end up paying your debts a few years after you graduated.
I say information technology or Computer Science. Very in demand and if we look at the world now, we are in the digital era and they are the ones needed the most. Engineering as well is profitable and always in demand wherever you are.
What else are profitable programs?
This thread is a week old, so things have changed significantly!

University is not recommended anymore by futurists like myself. By the time you finish your degree your knowledge will not only be outdated but everyone will have the new knowledge. You'll be stuck paying student loans while trying to unlearn the old fashioned methods that those loans paid for.
AI will be replacing most positions within the next few years. During this transition period (limited energy) universal income will replace minimum wages and only people who know how to work with AI will thrive.
If you are compelled to conform to traditional education or miss the social scene, get a one year diploma on AI and apply it to your interests and passions.
Obviously you should pick a program where you excel at and you will be happy at but a factor of choosing a degree to study is how rich it can make you.
I disagree. Any program that will make you happy can also make you rich if you combine it with AI. Remember there may be tens of thousands of people looking for work in your field. Knowing how to use AI will not only set you in front on them, but also on top of them (you'll probably start your own business and hire them all).
Do not get a four year degree in Information Technology just because you are interested in AI!
