İlkay Gündoğan have had a great time in Manchester City over the years,even at his age he had won the premier League back to back and even the Chiampions league for Manchester City. Gündoğan might be old but not out of shape, his experience alone is still very valuable to Guardiola and the team. Letting a valuable and experienced player like Gündoğan out of the team wouldn't be a considerate ideal for PEP Guardiola. I still believe Gündoğan still has a lot to contribute to the development of the team for Guardiola and wouldn't be allowed to exit the club until his contract expires.
Did you know that Manchester city actually allowed him to leave to Barcelona and still won the league without him, that means he can be replaced. I think he is not going to be much regular as have seen before and might not get a contract extension, he would have to be patient to actually play as second choice this season although there are cup games and some few league games I know he is going to start because Pep loves rotation.
But his game time will be limited because from the current pick of the Manchester city captain hand band we can see that he wasn’t choosen as the club captain after De Bruyne has left. In terms of experience I thought he would’ve been the first choice but even Bernando Silva is also matured to captain the club. The only reason he isn’t been sold is because Manchester City wouldn’t want to lose two senior players in a year but he is definitely not untouchable
