To me it is a surprise really. Because, I believe Liverpool isn't the best team in my eye. Real Madrid has always been the best team, and even last year they were, but they faced some injuries. But, when we are dealing with a new Real Madrid, without injuries and added Trent? They are going to be much much better. Many of the injured players are getting back too. Only question left is, what is wrong with Mbappe?
If you pay attention when Real Madrid won the UCL League trophy in the last few years they were always not favored from the start to win the UCL League, I still remember clearly when Real Madrid won the UCL trophy by making consecutive comebacks at that time at the beginning of the UCL League competition Real Madrid was not favored by bookies, in fact at that time Man City was favored to win the UCL trophy. So if next season Real Madrid is not in first place, it is not surprising to me, because Real Madrid has always not been a favorite but at the end of the season they became the winner of the UCL. Moreover, this season Real Madrid is coached by a new coach, so it is natural that bookies do not put Real Madrid in first place. Even PSG last season was not favored at the start but instead got the UCL trophy. So in my opinion the order of favorite teams is not a benchmark for being able to win the UCL trophy.

Because he is their best player or at least one of the best if you disagree, and he hasn't been at club world cup. Seems like he has an issue with his stomach, and he has lost 5kg+ already, which scares me because if it is chrons disease, that could literally be dangerous enough for him to retire, seen plenty that couldn't do anything proper. I hope it's not that, and it's something less dangerous.
No one doubts Mbappe's potential in scoring goals, last season Real Madrid was indeed in a slump but was able to become the top scorer in La Liga and Europe. So I think this season Xabi Alnso will be more productive, for now Xabi has not played him because he is not fit. But according to the news, he will be able to play in the next match.

Yes and in sport what counts is the result. Nobody will talk about who was the best player or best team, it is only about who won the trophy in the end. I don't like that point of view a lot because to fair at that time Manchester City was the best team in the world in my opinion. Yet this doesn't mean they win all titles. It's still possible for other teams to beat them, or otherwise they wouldn't have to play the game. But I prefer to remember how those games went and that Real Madrid had some incredibly lucky moments and timings. That's just the truth and yet they have this special quality to make those comebacks.
