It only makes sense when those reserved players are alternated more often so that they keep their forms and confidence. In a case where a team has reserved players that are as good as the starting XI or almost as good as them and rarely use them they begin to lose form and when the coach decides to use them after exhausting their main option  those reserves end up underperforming. Some players get insured because they have been over used whereas they had substitutes whom the coach would have given a chance to prove their skill while the other  maintains fitness.
When a player has got little playing time, they gradually begin to loose their form and their performance begins to drop. If a team has a good reserve,  just like you suggested,  rotation will go a long way to help the team maintain their form and performance,  because at some point even the good players will get rested and giving room for other players to come in and also showcase their talent meanwhile they maintain their form and strength such that they do not stand the risk of been fatigued and not been fit for very important matches. Coaches should begin to look into rotational tactics if they want to maintain the form and strength of their team for the longest throughout the season and possibly winning trophies for those who aim at it.
