I believe that so many traders have made certain mistakes that they wished they could go back in time to correct. Well mine was actually following advice from friends who posed as experts without doing my own research.
That is a stupid decision because you do not first verify your friend's involvement and success in trading. If you know his experience in trading is not good then I am sure you will not follow his steps to trade or you may miss something in other words make mistakes when trading.

A friend would say "Buy this coin now coz it is going to pump in days or months to come" and without even thinking I would just rush to buy the coin- no research, no planning, no strategy, nothing at all.
Basically you don't have to follow anyone when we are involved in trading but if they have good ability to buy certain coins it doesn't matter. As long as you also do your own analysis and research on the coin but if your ability to recognize coins is not good then you should choose bitcoin as a step to take investment compared to trading.

If you tell us what coin you bought, maybe we can see the movement of the coin so we can have a view of the decision you made. So we can find out whether it was entirely your friend's fault or your own for not being able to take advantage of the momentum.
