Liverpool Football Club may no longer be plagued by inconsistent performances vecause it has to be accepted that their summer spending patterns suggest that they are preparing for the upcoming major seasonal tournaments. Looking at their statistics, it might be easy to judge that they are not only strong on paper now, but will be strong for the upcoming season. As you mentioned it may not be because they may have shown their dismal performance this season but will be able to do something surprising in the upcoming UEFA Champions League. Now look at the spending patterns of this club and see how they prioritized notable players.
Liverpool can spend hundreds of millions of dollars to bring in the best players and quality squad depth, but all that ultimately never guarantees them great success next season. The success of a team in achieving achievements is certainly based on the strength of the squad, the quality of the game and strategy, but there are still many things that are overlooked so that we never really know what causes a failure. They seem to be trying, but they still have to fight because their competitors also don't want to lose on the battlefield for a whole season.

Manchester City and Arsenal are the closest competitors so far, but last season Manchester City and Arsenal couldn't do much. Liverpool were alone leading the standings until the end of the season and that was a great record for the manager and the team, but I think something different will be seen next season. Pep Guardiola and Arteta will definitely try to fix and find solutions to their problems last season, so Liverpool will not be guaranteed their achievement even if they bring in all the expensive and best players.
