They have financial issue and that has limited them on buying some key players that would have made great impact in that team, we all saw how Nico connected really well in the national team and that's why the connection was indeed needed because he would really help boost the performance of the team but due to financial restraint they can't meet up with his signing but hopefully they sign him.
It is no news that they have financial crisis for the longest time, apart from this it has also limited them from making some purchase they would have loved to before now. Athletic Bilbao have already filed a complaint with La Liga regarding Barcelona plans to sign their key player, so I think Barcelona are likely to fail to sign Nico Williams. I also hope Barcelona can quickly get out of the financial crisis, and can build squad depth without any obstacles in the future.
If Barcelona can reach a good deal with sponsors, which helps increase their annual income, maybe the situation will change.
