I think the losing would have even a bigger impact on a newbie because they will chase their losses to try win back what they lost...unlike winning which would still need testing to see if strategy still works and no need to go crazy with it.
Obviously. When something happens to you first time, you are emotionally not even prepared to deal with it. That's why first heart break is so devastating, and that's why people who don't deal with their feelings will push them down. Because first time doing that can be so scary that you don't want to do it second time, even though you are more prepared for it.

I recall my first bets as a kid, and if those wouldn't have disclosed on the same day, i wouldn't have got any sleep, because i was emotionally overwhelmed. Same goes with my first "i will win back my money" moment. Only reason i even believed in it, is because sometimes that had happened, and i felt lucky. You only need few "i lost everything" -moments to realize how bad that strategy actually is. Because those moments will burn into your mind when they happen first times.
