I'm sure it is not only about winning a trophy of Saudi league or other competitions. Al Nassr signed Ronaldo because Ronaldo can also increase the popularity of Al Nassr and even Saudi league, too. Even if Al Nassr still can't win SPL trophy, Al Nassr must get a significant improvement in merchandise sales besides its popularity. This is something impossible to do by another player. So, I think Al Nassr has been quite successful with Ronaldo.
Merchandise's giving big incomes for football teams so if a team's got Cristiano they're going to sell shirts & stadium tours. They're using his face on their promos so it's getting big audiences. Cristiano's a big player he's made Al Nassr famous.
Ronaldo is already 40 years old, and what makes me curious is whether Ronaldo can maintain his performance for the next two seasons, so that he can complete the contract that was just signed. Regardless of the details of the deal which are quite luxurious, I think Ronaldo deserves it. Looking back a little, Al Nassr goal in bringing Ronaldo was not only to win trophies, but to increase the popularity of the Saudi Pro League. However, until now Al Nassr has not succeeded in winning the main trophy, but this failure is not a big problem, because the Saudi Pro League is more advanced than before with the presence of Ronaldo.
He's made SPL famous so deserves the luxurious contract but he's got to win SPL & trophy's or else they'll say he wasn't successful in SPL.
