Ollie Watkins has been spotted in MU's shortlist. I do like him, a hard worker, PL proven, and has relatively cheap wage(£130,000). He's a competent striker, and better than wasted a lot of money to sign unproven PL striker such as Gyokeres or Osimhen.
He created 18 goals combined with 8 assists last season. enough to call him multiple times better than Hojlund.

The problem is that MU must get rid Hojlund out of the club first before they can send a bid for Ollie. I don't also think they may accept Ollie's age, which is 29 years old.

But thing may different if Villa give him a pretty good price.
No doubt that Watkins is a clinical attacker that will be a major plus to any team in the world, but going to Manchester united doesn't sounds logical to me because his present club is  way better than Manchester united team, so why going down instead of going up?
And one thing that may influence the decision making of not just Aston villa but also Manchester united is his age which you have already stated clearly already, because it makes no sense to invest so much on a 29 year old, unless Aston villa is ready to sell him at a very fair and cheap price which I think is very much unlikely given how important he is to this Aston villa side.

Finally, even if he makes the transfer to Manchester united, the fans of Manchester united shouldn't expect too much from him because only him can't change much in this lackluster Manchester united team that finds it difficult to create a goal scoring opportunities for their attackers, so it will definitely be a rough ride for Watkins if he makes this move.
