Chelsea has always been the team most eager to bring in new players to their club in almost every player transfer window when it is open. They have just succeeded in bringing in a winger from Dortmund, namely Jamie Gittens. It turns out that now Chelsea is also trying to get Joao Pedro. I like Chelsea's ambition in gathering lots of players. But I imagine how much work the manager of this club has to do with so many players this club has.

Apart from the two names above, Chelsea have also brought in the following players, namely Liam Delap, Estevao, Kendry Paez, Mamadou and Dario Essugo. And maybe Chelsea will have more new players.

It's peak BlueCo, almost revolutionary and reckless at the same time. They are gathering talent and building two generations simultaneously. Delap (super clinical last year, even outperformed his xG by +2.7 in a relegated Ipswich team) are for the now, whereas Estevao ("Messinho" in Brazil) and Paez are the future. All these 7-8 year contracts are about dodging FFP bullets, not just football vision

Will it work? I understand what they are trying to do: generate enough internal competition that no one feels comfortable, gamble that the majority of these wonderkids will turn out to be world-class, and  if the current team flops, replace it with the "B team" by 2027. It is dangerous, but should Maresca be able to coach them up, then Chelsea could be terrifying deep by the time everyone is still negotiating over left-backs. Then again, if a couple of these high-priced “next Neymars” flop, it will get ugly fast. That is the most Chelsea thing ever
