China is diving head first into these technologies and I think they're in a very good position to become the world's first in the next five to ten years. Their own pool of highly prestigious universities, a functional school system, local manufacturing.

While Chinese computing is kind of laging behing on general interest computing devices such as CPUs and GPUs, they're also advancing fast. In terms of ASICs they're also way ahead of the rest of the world already. Soon their efforts will pay out in my view.
