My bad, I didn't know. I thought it was under Abramovich they started their reckless signing spree. Few days ago, I came across this picture on twitter of Chelsea's dressing room by troll football and it really cracked me up.
Well, if the strategy is working for them, they should go on with it. However, with what happened to Mudryk or should I say how his case is looking, I'd expect them to be atleast smart in handing out these lengthy contracts to new signings.
This is a different Chelsea because under Roman Abramovich Chelsea were signing players that will make instant impact on the team like winning them trophies and qualifying for champions league places, average players or even young players that are still raw weren’t found in the Chelsea’s first team then, most you will see them going out on loan to get more experience.
Todd Bohely actually implemented this pattern which is a new direction for Chelsea fans, I still haven’t seen what Bohely is trying to accomplish because he just kept on recycling players and not that he buys them and gives them enough time but sells them off right after a year. The reason why they are also been awarded long term contracts is to beat FFP sanctions due to their excess buys putting wage load on them
