My bad, I didn't know. I thought it was under Abramovich they started their reckless signing spree. Few days ago, I came across this picture on twitter of Chelsea's dressing room by troll football and it really cracked me up.
Well, if the strategy is working for them, they should go on with it. However, with what happened to Mudryk or should I say how his case is looking, I'd expect them to be atleast smart in handing out these lengthy contracts to new signings.
Is this picture real or AI-generated? I am trying to look closely at the players and couldn't recognise anyone there, maybe the picture on my device is not clear. And why are all the players fully dressed as if all of them will play in the game?
Coach Enzo Maresca is trying to cut down on the players and hopefully many of them will leave. I think Chelsea is willing to offload as many players as possible. I guess the club has above 40 players. However, since they will be playing in the UCL they might need many players.
I wonder how true this story is about the Chelsea coach wanting to reduce the number of players because not two weeks have gone by without me seeing news about Chelsea signing someone. For example:

Official, confirmed. João Pedro signs in as new Chelsea player on 7 year contract!
£55m fixed transfer fee plus £5m add-ons for the Brazilian joining from Brighton.

I don't know what the Chelsea management's objective is with this frantic race for many signings, but it seems to me that it is working. They will have two teams, they will be able to afford to have one team exclusively for cup games and another exclusively for Premier League and European Champions League games.
That way they will have less wear and tear on the players and will have enough reserve players to replace whenever others get injured and they can still sell for a higher price.
