If the government accepts Bitcoin and plans to centralize it to keep it under its control in their country, then it will be a cause of harm rather than the acceptance of Bitcoin.
That is not true acceptance of bitcoin. It is more like tolerating bitcoin but those who will buy and hold bitcoin under the government will never really be able to reach true freedom and independency. They probably are there only for the profit.

No one can control the blockchain itself but the government can force their citizens to stop using bitcoin through threats of consequences should they get caught.
