Lakers got Ayton and LaRavia with nothing to give, this is a good addition with the LA, but not enough.
I think people underestimate what Ayton can do for the Lakers. While he's not as impressive as the other big man.

But at these times, it's wise for the Lakers to get big man for someone to post in the paint and at the same time also can score, he's the man. JJ could utilize him under the ring.

They wouldn't take someone and just give a contract to do nothing. Maybe for Laravia but I guess with Ayton, JJ has got some plays and important roles for him to play, let's give them a chance though.

I think Ayton has a ton of potential. He almost delivered a championship to the Phoenix Suns and got no credit for it. He has some real personality issues I think, but hopefully being around LeBron’s team gets him set on the right path. This will either go really well or really bad. LeBron could get really frustrated with him.

Ayton may have potential but we haven't seen it yet, and maybe we never will.
I think real star players show themselves early on. I don't think Ayton has star potential. He never will.
He can contribute to the Lakers but he won't be a star. These are my thoughts.
I also think he can't be considered a big star but he is quite decent. In terms of his achievements, he is on par with Luka Doncic, for example. Doncic may score more points, but he has no tangible achievements. These two were in the same draft class. Perhaps they can achieve success together in the end. But the fact is that the Lakers urgently needed a good centre, and they got one, a good player who can fill the gap even if he is not a superstar. Now we can talk about how far can Lakers go in the playoffs, when they got a center they needed.
