UEFA and FIFA care more about their income and don't care about players. They want to gave as many tournaments with as biggest possible sizes as possible in order to maximize their income while clubs and players have time struggle with too intensive playing schedules.
From Champions League to Europa League and Conference League, it is expansion with one more league. Then World Cup and Euro tournament expansions. We are also witnessing a crazy size of FIFA Club World Cup this summer. Surely UEFA and FIFA will not stop there and players will face with more pressure physically and mentally in future seasons.
This problem could be solved if a Super League were organized (and all third-rate competitions would die out automatically because top clubs would stop sending players there), but unfortunately its launch is constantly being postponed. Corruption is too deeply rooted in European (and world) football. Football is more of a toy in the hands of politicians and the rich, and not a business as it should be. That's why everything is so ugly now, I hope at least the players will start to think more clearly, after all, a threat to health is a good incentive.
