Kompany managed to turn things around when everyone doubted his ability, he came to Bayern Munich when the situation was at its lowest point which ended with the sacking of Thomas Tuchel. Appointing Kompany as Tuchel's successor was a big gamble by Munich's management, he has no experience at all with a big club and failed to save Burnley from relegation.
Kompany belong to a new coach generation who are used to be star players at many big clubs and now they have been developing their coach career from small clubs to big clubs. Kompany was given an opportunity of managing Bayern Munich in the last season and in general he performed his management very well. He has shown that he is truly deserved with trust from Bayern Munich and potentially can work better for them in next seasons.
Now they are eyeing a trophy that is more prestigious than the Bundesliga, but if you look at the competition this season, Kompany will have a hard time in the UCL. I think this time he will be outshined by Xabi Alonso who has just been appointed as Real Madrid coach.
Winning Bundesliga title is too normal and easy with Bayern Munich as they have had very strong domination in Bundesliga in many decades. Bayern Munich want to win Champions League by spending huge transfer cost for Harry Kane two seasons ago. So far they have not won any UEFA Champions League title with Harry Kane in their squad but they still have time to take advantage of Kane's goal scoring ability in coming years.
