Now, I’m a father, and my 17-year-old daughter is starting to gamble too playing slots and even doing some sports betting. I don’t know how to feel, part of me feels oddly proud of what she’s doing.
What does that make me?

Your daughter is 17 years old, she is still a minor, at least in most countries and in most casinos the minimum age to be able to create an account and play is 18 years old. I am speaking in legal terms. So by allowing your 17-year-old daughter to access gambling sites you are committing a crime and breaking the TOS of the bookmakers
In moral terms, you are also not right, you know that it is wrong for a person who does not even know how difficult adult life is and you are putting her into the world of gambling instead of encouraging her not to enter that world yet. Because she does not have her own income, she is not yet aware of how difficult it is to get money on her own and of the dangers of gambling
